Feeling Adrift as a Solo Founder or Independent Business?

I help you take back and maintain control so you can navigate your business with clarity and confidence.

Experiencing decision paralysis, or making decisions based on guesswork and what's trending? Having a hard time understanding why your days are long but your bank account is short? Made costly mistakes you don't want to repeat?

You're in the right place.

If your business was a ship, you're the Captain and I'd be your Steady Admiral.

Let's be clear—an admiral is not a coach. I study the internal machinery—both yours and your business'— then I...

  • Set the mission and strategic direction. You take this direction and translate it into action for your business

  • Provide resources and support, such as taking control or restructuring the distribution of your business assets, information and personnel, enabling you to focus on the visionary work

  • Offer a broader perspective: Because I can see the larger "battlefield", I can adapt your overall strategy in response to changing conditions

  • Hold you accountable for the outcome of your missions

In short, I identify what's missing, broken and illogical—"the leaks"—and I patch them up for long-term Control, Clarity and Confidence.

And my signature Lighthouse Method applies to all kinds of founders, including:

  • Early-stage entrepreneurs who want to determine their business' "seaworthiness"

  • Founders in the active growth cycle who want to avoid crashing straight into an iceberg

  • Mature businesses that feel stagnant and are at risk of redundancy

I'm Danielle Erickson.

Founder & "Steady Admiral" at Big Light Consulting and CEO of Big Chill Mobile Freezers

For more than 15 years, I’ve worked with medium- to large-sized corporations, stepping into environments where systems have shattered like glass across the office floors; where humans are coming and going at alarming rates; and where those who stay are often confused, frustrated and burnt out.

It’s not a job most people want to do. But not only did I become one of the only female executive directors of the time in Manitoba, the Canadian province where I live, I thrived—and in industries that until today remain predominantly led by men. (See Captains' Narrative: Testimonials from Business Leaders I worked with)

After building a successful career out of solving problems most people avoid, I decided to start my own business, Big Chill Mobile Cooler & Freezer Rentals, which continues to sell out regularly.

Over the last decade I’ve coached and consulted for businesses of all shapes and sizes across the world, from Canada to Asia, where burnout rates have skyrocketed.

And I want to shift towards doing that full-time, coming full circle to doing what I do best and for reasons that most align with where I am in life.

I’m a wife, mum of 3 and grandma of 3 with 2 more on the way; and I'm so very grateful, but also protective, and determined to play my part in creating a blueprint that primes the next generation for easeful, not chaotic success.

No matter where you are in your business, you need a Steady Admiral—someone who not only has your back, but answers. As long as you're committed to vision, I'm on board.
